Part Time Online Advisor

POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Part-Time College Advisor to support our online student population. The ideal candidate will assist students in academic planning, course selection, career advising, and navigating the challenges of online learning. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about student success and equipped with strong communication and organizational skills.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide academic advising to online students, assisting with course selection and degree planning.
  • Guide students on institutional policies, procedures, and academic resources.
  • Assist students in developing educational and career goals.
  • Monitor student progress and provide proactive outreach to at-risk students.
  • Offer support in time management, study strategies, and online learning best practices.
  • Collaborate with faculty and support services to enhance student success.
  • Maintain accurate advising records and documentation.
  • Stay informed about changes in curriculum, institutional policies, and educational trends.
  • Develop and implement student retention strategies to improve persistence and graduation rates.
  • Identify barriers to student success and coordinate appropriate support services.
  • Track and analyze student retention data to inform intervention efforts.
  • Conduct outreach efforts to re-engage inactive or struggling students.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Previous experience in academic advising, student services, or a related role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support a diverse student population.
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms and educational technology.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information systems.
